'A Spiritual Journey from the Arabian Sea to the Indian Ocean: The Jyotirlinga, Navagraha & Agni Temples of India
Dr Paul Barker (Leeds)
[Dr Paul Barker]
Dr Paul Barker

Paul will be discussing his recent pilgrimage across India where he visited a number of important temples including Somnath & the temple at Mallikarjuna, the 9 planetary temples at Kumbakonam, and the Arunachaleswarar Agni (fire element) temple. He will also include the visit to the Ramana Maharishi Ashram and the perambulation around the sacred  Arunachala Hill.  Walking around the Hill is called Giri Pradakshina. Pradakshina means the act of walking around any holy place in a clockwise direction, with one’s right side facing the object of adoration. Paul will also present the cultural art on display at the Tanjore Art Gallery. He will conclude with a description of his stay at Adyar where he visited the Theosophical Society International Headquarters. This will be an illustrated presentation.

Dr. Paul Barker has studied Vedic Astrology for over 10 years with distinguished tutors and scholars, and has spoken at International Conferences in the UK and Abroad. He is the President of the Leeds Theosophical Society. Paul has also studied spiritual numerology and the Tarot for over ten years. He is a student on the Jaimini Scholar Programme, which is a five centuries old lineage of esoteric Vedic knowledge.
